Zelda, Animal Crossing DLC Revealed for Mario Kart 8

/ Aug 27th, 2014 No Comments

Mario Kart 8

Nintendo of America officially announced The Legend of Zelda X Mario Kart 8 and Animal Crossing X Mario Kart 8 DLC for Mario Kart 8. Nintendo UK had originally posted information regarding some new DLC coming for the game.

The two packs will cost $7.99 separately or $11.99 as a bundle with a November release date for The Legend of Zelda DLC and a May 2015 release for the Animal Crossing DLC.

Purchasing both packs in advance nets Mario Kart 8 owners a bonus of eight different-colored Yoshis and eight different-colored Shy Guys. Mario Kart 8 owners can advance purchase the packs starting Aug. 27.

Both of these new content packs will add two new cups with eight additional courses to Mario Kart 8. The two packs together increases the total number of tracks by 50 percent. The two packs include classic tracks like Wario’s Gold Mine from Mario Kart Wii and new courses themed around each DLC pack.

The packs also include new vehicles including a Blue Falcon-themed kart from F-Zero in The Legend of Zelda pack. This marks the first appearance by the F-Zero series in Mario Kart.

Mario Kart 8 Pack 1 – The Legend of Zelda X Mario Kart 8 includes 3 new racers including Tanooki Mario, Cat Peach and Link. As well as 4 new vehicles, among them the Blue Falcon kart, 8 new courses, and two new cups including a Tri-Force Cup. The pack releases in November 2014.

Animal Crossing X Mario Kart includes 3 new characters with Villager, Isabelle and Dry Browser joining the game. It also includes 4 new vehicles, 2 new cups with a New Leaf Cup, and 8 new courses. Mario Kart 8 Pack 2 comes out in May 2015.

Quick Take

This is excellent news because the Mario Kart series should have been Nintendo Kart like three games ago. While the information originally came from Nintendo UK, Nintendo of America announced pricing and release dates on these two DLC packs shortly after. Despite being pricey DLC, there is a ton of new content in each pack and racing as Link or the Villager is too awesome a prospect to miss out on.
