Developer Playtonic Games will not be at E3 2017, but the company offered an update on Yooka-Laylee via its official website. The game will be getting its first major update soon.
The update will address player feedback and cater to the speed-run community, according to Playtonic. A number of changes will be made to the game, impacting the user interface, gameplay mechanics, controls and fixing bugs.
Notable changes include a player-controlled camera, the option to skip cutscenes and major tweaks to the controls. The patch will also add a screen that details button commands for Yooka-Laylee’s various moves. The screen will be accessible via the game’s menu.
The patch is currently in the final stages of testing and should be out sometime this month.
Playtonic also released the first image of Yooka-Laylee running on the Nintendo Switch. The company stated that the Switch version of the game is also in the final stages of testing. No formal release date was provided, but the Switch version will include all of the features of the upcoming patch.
