KILLER IS DEAD

XSeed Games released the first English trailer for Grasshopper Manufacture‘s KILLER IS DEAD on their YouTube page Monday.

The new trailer is to promote the new action game from the iconic SUDA 51 and Grasshopper Manufacture. The trailer also is a way to promote the launch of the official North American Facebook page for the game. XSeed and Grasshopper want fans to go to the page and ask questions to SUDA 51. The best fan posted questions will be chosen and answered by SUDA 51. This is a great opportunity for fans to interact directly with the game’s creator.

The trailer shows lead character Mondo Zappa receiving a call telling him it is time to start his job. The voiceover is overlayed with footage of him in a romantic situation and killing a man. In the trailer, plenty of gameplay footage is shown detailing the pace of action and what seems to be a boss fight. There are some bits of story interspersed with the gameplay. What comes through pointedly in the trailer is the distinct stylized visuals of the game. It lends a noir feel to the game. The trailer’s music and voiceover reinforce that vibe. Certain aspects of the visual style are reminiscent of Robert Rodriguez’s take on Sin City.

Grasshopper Manufacture and Kadokawa Games share developer duties on KILLER IS DEAD.

KILLER IS DEAD takes place in a modern setting where biomechanical upgrades are becoming commonplace. Players will take control of Mondo Zappa in the game. Zappa is an executioner and his job is to kill criminals and assassins. The firm that he works for, Bryan Execution Firm, is led by the enigmatic Bryan. Mondo uses his sword and cyborgian arm with interchangeable weapons to deal with the scum he is tasked to kill.

KILLER IS DEAD is scheduled for a release this Summer on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. XSeed Games will handle the North American release, while Deep Silver will distribute it in Europe and Oceania.

The official trailer can be viewed below.
