XSEED Games announced Pandora’s Tower will be released on Apr 16 in the U.S.

The hotly anticipated role-playing game is an exclusive for the Nintendo Wii. Pandora’s Tower will retail for $39.99.

To help celebrate the announcement of the U.S. release, XSEED has premiered a new gameplay trailer.

In the short trailer, fans get treated to some footage of how Pandora’s Tower plays. Interspersed with the gameplay footage is some text cards giving context to the proceedings. In the trailer, there are two characters, Elena and Aeron, that are featured prominently.

There exist thirteen towers in this world that hold the key to solving a curse and deformity that the young woman experiences. To save her and lift her curse, the players will have to conquer these towers, defeat the Masters and strip them of their flesh.

Pandora’s Tower has more action qualities to its gameplay. For those who like their RPGs to be active, this game has that appeal. The game features plenty of huge bosses to fight that will test players.

This Ganbarion and Nintendo developed title will explore the maiden in distress theme well trodden in games. However, the worn convention will get a new twist as Aeron will have to skin bosses in order to save the woman he loves.

Taking place in the Elyria Kingdom, the singer Elena falls victim to a terrible curse during a festival. Elena’s flesh is branded with an ancient marker and gradually, and seemingly irreversibly, transforms into a monster. The only one who can save Elena is the ex-soldier Aeron who has pledged his love to the singer.

Aeron must venture into The Scar, a floating island that is held up by twelve chains and features thirteen towers atop it. Utilizing his sword–the sacred Oraclos Chain–and various other weapons, he must battle through the enemies dwelling in all these towers. At the top of each tower is a Master that Aeron must defeat.

Once he defeats a Master, he must consume their flesh in order to save Elena from becoming a monster. Time is against him though, and the more time spent on a boss will cause Elena to turn into more of a monster. The more monstrous Elena becomes will have a consequence on her character and the outcome of the story. Thus, players must fight smartly to save her from losing her humanity.

The new gameplay trailer for Pandora’s Tower can be viewed below.
