World of WarCraft Sees New Content Coming in Version 5.1

Even though the Mists of Pandaria expansion was just released, World of Warcraft will already be seeing new content with the impending release of the 5.1 update.  You didn’t expect Blizzard to rest on their laurels fresh off of selling 2.7 million copies of the latest expansion did you?  While work on the 5.1 patch is well underway, the company has released a few details about what new things you can expect from World of Warcraft.

Blizzard first plans on introducing the 5.1 patch by releasing a build of it in the Public Test Realms.  Though that build isn’t going to include all the content from the patch, it will give you a taste of some of the major new features.  One new addition will affect the ever-growing rivalry between the Horde and Alliance forces.  Players will soon be encountering expeditions from both factions who hope to conquer the continent of Pandaria and transform the land.  Players who wish to take their own part in this conflict will find daily quest hubs and faction reputations to provide more reasons to adventure.  Wrathion will also offer more tasks for players wanting even more Legendary gear.

One of the more interesting new features is the addition of a Brawler’s Guild.  According to the notes, “underground fighting rings have sprung up in Stormwind and Orgrimmar.”  The fighting rings actually give players the opportunity to test their skills in solo PvE combat against some of the more nastier foes found in World of Warcraft.  The Brawler’s Guild is sure to be a great way for others to face some real challenges and brag about their skills in the arena.  For those that love what Mists of Pandaria did with Pet Battles, the update will cater to them as well.  Not only will there be improvements to the user interface and other systems, but a way to upgrade the rarity of captured pets will also be introduced.  Players will also now be able to spend Valor Points to upgrade their items.  By using Valor Points the item level and quality of any owned gear can be improved.

No other details were given about the patch notes except that it was only a taste of things to come and, thankfully, more will be announced soon.  Are you excited about what Blizzard has in store for World of Warcraft when the new update hits?  While you wait, brush up on your transmogrification skills with our Secrets of World of Warcraft Transmogrification feature.  And be sure to check out our review for Mists of Pandaria.
