Fans of World of WarCraft were delighted last week when Blizzard Entertainment announced the release of Patch 4.3, dubbed “Hour of Twilight” which brings new dungeons, raids and features to the world’s biggest MMORPG of all time. The Patch is offered free of charge for those subscribing to the game.
There are six major new features included in the game – Raid Finder, Transmogrification, Void Storage, Valor Changes, Fangs of the Father (rogues) and an all-new Darkmoon Faire.
The Raid Finder feature is a new grouping feature that works much like the existing Dungeon Finder. Instead of getting put into five player dungeons, this feature allows you to be popped into a group for form a raid group for a specifically tuned version of current tier raid content. For Patch 4.3 that raid will be the new Dungeon Soul raid, where you will finally take on Deathwing with a chance to kill the dragon on the box from the most recent expansion – Cataclysm. Level 85 players will be able to use this to access a 25-player version of the Dragon Soul raid dungeon, with three different difficulties available to play through, with the higher levels of difficulty only accessible via grouping with friends and guild mates.Transmogrification allows you to customize the appearance of your weapons and armor. In the capital cities in Azeroth you’ll be able to find Ethereals who will set up shops that allow to you access this new feature. You’ll get access to a new interface that allows you to change the appearance of an item while retaining the original stats.
Void Storage hopes to fulfill the desire of many players who have been asking for a location to store important keepsakes like unique quest rewards and gifts from friends. This is a long-term storage option which will open up 80 slots of space. The vaults will be kept in Stormwind and Orgrimmar via the local Vaultkeeper.
Another new feature is changes to the Valor system and the way Valor Points are obtained. With the Looking for Dungeon feature, there will now be 150 VP per run awarded with a cap of sven runs per week. All Cataclysm heroics will provide 150VP/run. If you use Looking for Raid, you’ll get 250 VP per run with a cap of 500 per week. Valor Points now cap at 1,000 points per week.
Fangs of the Father will give experience rogues the opportunity to play a central role in the WoW storyline. Rogues will travel across continents to play through a quest line that includes missions involving reconnaissance, burglary, infiltration and assassination. Those who succeed will get a paired set of daggers that become increasingly lethal as their bearer progresses along the quest.
One of the last “new features” is a brand new edition of the Darkmoon Faire. It’s been promised to be like nothing you’ve ever seen before. There are new graphics, new quests, new tickets and all sorts of new mysteries to be unraveled.
Perhaps the biggest piece of news with the release of World of WarCraft 4.3 are the three new dungeons and one new raid. The three dungeons have been named End Time, Well of Eternity and Hour of Twilight. The new raid is called Dragon Soul.
In the new raid Dragon Soul, players will finally get the chance to get into the Wyrmrest Temple, and beyond, to assist Thrall in bringing an end to the Black Dragonflight. In 10 and 25 person iterations, players can finally take on Deathwing with three difficulty levels available. Before you take on Deathwing, you’ll have to prevail against six bosses, including Morchok, a powerful elemental.
