[adsense250itp]Wargaming announced this week that it will make it’s first foray in consoles with World of Tanks (WOT). Developed by Wargaming West and published by Microsoft, WOT will be the first console game by the developer released on the Xbox 360. Players of Wargaming’s popular World of series which includes free-to-play MMO titles World of Tanks, World of Warplanes and World of Warships will find gameplay somewhat different from it’s PC counterpart as the console version of WOT was built specifically for play on the Xbox 360.
The Xbox 360 version of WOT will be digitally downloadable (through Xbox LIVE) and free-to-play for Gold and Silver Xbox LIVE gamers. Xbox 360’s World of Tanks will feature revamped controls, matchmaking and a new user interface. WOT will also feature in-game purchases including premium tanks, consumables and premium accounts to boost experience and currency accrual rates. New WOT features have been designed to take advantage of the the Xbox 360’s technological capabilities and online features.
WOT gamers concerned at the prospect of the initially limited choices for choosing and customizing their tanks should not fear. Wargaming has extensive plans to add new tanks, nations and other content to the Xbox 360 Edition of WOT starting at launch.
The announcement of WOT’s release to console shows further proof of the developers intent to expand it’s World of series. In March, Wargaming revealed World of Tanks Blitz for smartphones and tablets which is still pending a release date. Wargaming has also previously mentioned plans for World of Tanks Generals, an MMO card game which is also pending a release date.
For now, Wargaming plans to open the beta phase of WOT which will contain tanks from the United States and Germany. Wargaming is also currently accepting beta applications for the game. The WOT Xbox 360 Edition will be featured at Wargaming’s booth at E3 (601 South Hall) this week.
