Ubisoft Set to Unveil Watch Dogs 2

Watch Dogs 2 is set for a full reveal on June 8 at 9 a.m. PT, Ubisoft announced. A teaser trailer published on YouTube accompanied the announcement. The 30-second teaser can be viewed below.
Ubisoft had previously confirmed the existence of a sequel to Watch Dogs. The 2014 title released to lukewarm reception — including a 77% score on Gaming Illustrated — probably hindered by two years of hype.
The original title had an impressive showing when it was first announced two years prior to release at E3, and this was followed by a few more exciting gameplay demos. The game failed to live up to the high expectations it set for itself though.
Not much is known about Watch Dogs 2, although rumors seem to point to a new main character in the lead role. The teaser trailer only features some Watch Dogs imagery in the background with a smartphone in the hand of the presumed protagonist in the foreground. The smartphone screen hints at some hacking.
Watch Dogs 2 is expected to be a significant part of Ubisoft’s E3 press conference in addition to its big reveal. The release window for the game is unknown at the time of this writing, but Ubisoft previously stated the game will launch by April 2017.
It’s surprising that Ubisoft would pull off a big reveal of one of its game a week before E3 2016, but the publisher may be trying to build up excitement for its E3 presser. Giving Watch Dogs 2 its own dedicated announcement before E3 will allow Ubisoft to focus on other games during its conference while giving fans a bit more of Watch Dogs 2 without having to discuss it at length.
