Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End has had a record-breaking first week of sales, Sony announced on the PlayStation Blog.
Naughty Dog’s final installment of Nathan Drake’s epic journey exceeded 2.7 million units in global sales. The number applies for worldwide sell-through data for physical and digital quantities from the time the game released on May 10 through May 16.
Sony said this places Uncharted 4 as the fastest-selling PS4 first party title to-date in the North American region. While the game is an incredible success there is still more for Uncharted 4 fans coming in the near future. The series’ first single player DLC has not been detailed but will arrive eventually. Fans of the game’s multiplayer should also expect a constant stream of updates with new modes, weapons, maps, and cosmetic items to keep them invested.
These numbers prove Uncharted 4 was the PS4 blockbuster many expected it to be. Despite multiple delays the game has lived up to fan expectation and created an unforgettable experience. The real question is, with these numbers will Sony resist the possible temptation to create another Uncharted without Naughty Dog, or will they give Nathan Drake a well-deserved rest?
