You would think summer would be a great time for new video game releases, but July is actually a slow month for the games industry. Between summer vacations and blockbuster movie debuts, perhaps gaming is better served saving their big guns for the holiday season. However, this week will see a release tied into one of this summer’s biggest movie release.
Jurassic World Evolution – 7/3/18
The revival of the Jurassic Park movie franchise has proven to be a huge success. After just 10 days at the box office, Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom has reportedly taken in $265 million. So, why stop at the box office?
Jurassic World Evolution isn’t necessarily a movie tie-in, although it is releasing at a similar time as the sequel. Developed by Frontier Development, players are tasked with building their own version of Jurassic Park. The game officially launched on June 12, but physical copies for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One will be available July 3.
Red Faction Guerrilla Re-mars-tered – 7/3/18
Originally released in 2009, Red Faction Guerrilla is back with the remastered treatment. Enjoy fully reworked graphics, improved lighting and native 4K support.
The open-world third-person shooter is set 50 years after the events of the original Red Faction, which you may want to play before jumping into the remastered sequel. It will retail for $29.99.
Runbow – 7/3/18
Runbow originally released for the Wii U in 2015. Three years and several ports later, it is finally making its way to the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch on July 3.
The multiplayer platform racing game has drawn praise from critics for its simple concept and addicting gameplay.
