Tiger Woods PGA Tour 14 Debuts Arnold Palmer Art
EA Sports has announced that celebrated golfers Tiger Woods and Arnold Palmer will appear together on the Tiger Woods PGA Tour 14 box art. The unique cover will feature a 1960′s portrait of Palmer, also affectionately known as “The King,” depicting the World Golf Hall of Famer as he looked in his most accomplished years.
Golf fans may be familiar with Palmer’s 92 professional victories, 62 of which he accrued on the PGA Tour. These achievements include four Masters, a U.S. Open, and two Open Championships as well as the PGA Tour Lifetime Achievement Award and his induction into the World Golf Hall of Fame. The accompanying golf icon, Tiger Woods, has won the Arnold Palmer Invitational seven times and is the second most successful golfer in PGA Tour wins. Woods and Palmer have a history in both the real and virtual worlds. The decorated duo were both included in previous PGA Tour (’05 and ’06) games.
Tiger Woods PGA Tour 14′s release date and platform availability has yet to be announced. However, the released box art suggests the game will be available for both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. EA Sports has disclosed that a different art will adorn the European edition although no specifics have been given.
If gamers decide to pre-order PGA Tour 14, there are multiple retailer-specific bonuses to choose from, many of which are bonus characters and golf courses. EA sports has released the specifics on these bonuses as well. Pre-ordering from Gamestop rewards players with the Pinehurst No. 2 DLC course. Best Buy is giving out the 1986 Jack Nicklaus exclusive character while Wal-Mart has both the Kevin Love and Andy Roddick exclusive characters. A pre-order from Target gives players the Whistling Straits DLC course. Ordering through digital retailer Amazon has the Bethpage Black DLC course as a bonus. Finally, those ordering through EA’s digital store Origin receive a set of exclusive historic golf clubs.
Regardless of which bonus gamers choose, putting two legendary, respected golfers on the box art and in game is a great way to tee off. Golf lovers will enjoy having this box art decorating their gaming shelves when Tiger Woods PGA Tour 14 arrives next year.
