Tiger Woods PGA 13 Review
Carl Armstrong / Apr 23rd, 2012 No Comments

Tiger Woods PGA 13 is a solid title whether you are a big golfing fan or not. Whether you can afford to play at Torrey Pines, the East Lake Golf club or somehow you are lucky enough to have a membership at Augusta (highly unlikely), your only real option is Tiger Woods PGA tour 13 out for the PS3 and Xbox 360. It wasn’t too long ago you could find it on 8 different platforms but times have changed and only the big players are carrying this franchise. Like any other EA franchise you get a lot of minor improvements to their staple franchises but with PGA Tour 13 they find creative ways to revamp their franchise, and sorry, there is no game mode that reenacts that fateful thanksgiving day a couple years ago … come on people you’re better than that.

Gameplay
I’ve never been an avid golfer, I’ve been told by many peers to pick it up so I’m coming from gaming background when comes to Tiger Woods, I don’t know my Irons, Drivers, what the yips are etc so after throwing down a few hours I did enjoy what I played. While the mechanics can take time to master it is rather easy to pick up and learn early. It doesn’t hurt that you have Jim Nance and David Feherty in your ear giving advice and calling play by play. This mixture along with the beautiful scenery makes this an enjoyable time. Last year’s game introduced the Masters and new play by play commentators, this year’s game includes a new Tiger Legacy challenge where you play as Tiger from basically the age where he could pick up a club and hit balls into kiddy pools all through his career and even into the future where you could have the chance to break Jack Nicklaus’ record of Major victories. It’s a nice addition and you have the chance to learn more about Tiger if you didn’t know too much about his ascension into one of golf’s elite players.
Multiplayer
You can imagine golfers all over the world talking about country clubs, but gamers? With the country club feature you can create your own club, invite friends and compete online to earn goodies like tokens to play on downloadable courses. I can definitely see friends putting down real money on a feature like this.
Presentation
There is so much to do in Tiger Woods PGA tour, it would take a while to explore every feature in this game; from playing against the PC, improving your stroke on the best courses out there, creating a character, keeping your sponsors happy to wondering how Tiger played with he was 12 PGA tour is such a deep title it puts many games out there to shame.
Overall
If you’re not a golfer, I can still see you having a decent time with this game. If you play on a regular basis, you already own this, probably. The only gripe is that there isn’t more to do, more courses or players to use. Tiger Woods is a solid title all around and there are few flaws other than the fact that its golf and not a FPS, well that makes no sense but the point is a solid title is a solid title no matter the genre.
