The Secret World Early Access Opens Today

/ Jun 29th, 2012 No Comments

Today Funcom announced the early access pre-launch period of ‘The Secret World‘. Its a modern-day MMO of myths, lends and conspiracies. If you haven’t read it already, check out our exclusive exclusive interview with The Secret World’s Senior Producer Ragnar Tornquist. Funcom is an independent developer and publisher of online PC games and consoles. Since their birth in 1993 they have published some great titles like Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures, The Longest Journey, Anarchy Online, and Dreamfall. With The Secret World Funcom has built an alliance with EA Partners, which is a division of Electronic Arts.

Gamers from all around the world seem to be eager to play The Secret World. There were 1.5 million gamers registered to play the beta. With such an interesting story in The Secret World, players are going to be going up against all the monsters from locations like Transylvania, Egypt and New England. In the game, players will get to go against some of the most popular terrorist groups in history like the Illuminati and the Templars, as well as being pitted against monsters such as dragons. With such enemies in a modern world setting, MMO fans are given a whole new spin on the genre. The Secret World is also getting recognized widely for taking the MMO formula into new, unique ways of leveling and story-telling without moving away from the conventional model of gamer interaction.

Media outlets such a G4TV, MMORPG and RockPaperShotgun all have came out and said ‘The Secret World’ is one of the most anticipated games of 2012. That’s a pretty a bold statement since there are a lot of blockbuster titles which still have yet to be released. Even there soundtrack has gotten positive feedback and will be available for purchase though iTunes and Amazon.

A example of the uniqueness of this game is going to be when players not only are going to fighting myths and legends around the world, but when they are going to have to pick sides with governments and corporations. But are they going to conflict with what you are striving for? Is the corporation you support going to conflict with the government you support? With all these exciting possibilities with ‘The Secret World’ it’s understandable to see why every media outlet is looking to it as such an anticipated game.

Funcom made it simple to still get pre-orders in (and thus, early access to the game) if you haven’t done so already. Just head over to their site, click pre-order before July 3rd and you will be able to participate in the early access online experience. ‘The Secret World’ is getting so much attention and hype, let’s just hope that it can live up to it when it officially releases, on July 3rd.
