The Pokémon Company announced the latest spin-off game to the Pokémon series. Pokkén Tournament is an arcade fighting game created in collaboration with Bandai Namco Games.
[adsense250itp]Not much is known about the project except that it will hit Japanese arcades in 2015. Also it will target a more general/casual audience.
Both Katsuhiro Harada and Masaaki Hoshino, lead producers of Tekken and Soul Calibur, are working on Pokkén Tournament.
Since the 2015 release is far off, there is no information about the game or whether it will make it outside of Japan or to console.
However, The Pokémon Company did release a short first look trailer of Lucario and Machamp fighting.

In more official Nintendo news, this might be the silliest spin-off Pokémon game. Certainly this is something no one expected, a new Pokémon Snap for Wii U would have been the logical choice.
The lack of information leaves a ton of questions about the game. Will it still have some fighting game depth despite being aimed at a casual audience? Will it only feature fighting Pokémon or other Pokémon types?
Is this one of the three projects Harada mentioned at EVO 2014? Will this be on the main stage of EVO 2017? And should we get hype?
