Ubisoft announced their upcoming racing MMO The Crew will release in fall 2014 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. A new gameplay trailer was also released showing off some of the locations players will visit.
The Crew was originally revealed at E3 2013 during Ubisoft’s press conference. Described as an open-world game, The Crew will allow players from across the world to meet up and go on missions together. Players are tasked with infiltrating and taking over a criminal organization in cities across the United States.

Racing missions will require cars with parts that will go fast, where takedown missions require heavy-duty vehicles that can deal damage. The Crew also foregoes matchmaking lobbies and similar multiplayer conventions to create a seamless experience.
Ivory Tower and Ubisoft Reflections are responsible for developing The Crew. For Ivory Tower, a team consisting of members who have worked on franchises like Need for Speed and Test Drive Unlimited, The Crew is their first title. Ubisoft Reflections, formerly known as Reflections Interactive, is well known for their work on the Driver franchise.
Last October, Ubisoft announced they were delaying The Crew and Watch Dogs into their next fiscal year. While The Crew was never given a clear release window, the Watch Dogs delay was much more shocking as it was supposed to be a launch title for the PS4 and Xbox One.
The Crew Trailer
Very little information has been given about The Crew since its E3 2013 premiere. While the concept of an MMO, open-world racing game is fresh and intriguing, the lack of information doesn’t give players much to go on. However, the pedigree of Ivory Tower and Ubisoft Reflections guarantees a pure racing experience. A fall release window definitely narrows down the time frame. If Ubisoft plans on releasing a new Assassin’s Creed game this year, it will most likely come out sometime in November. Releasing The Crew in August or September gives the studio’s calendar some good breathing room.
