Thanos is Now in Fortnite and He’s Already Getting Nerfed

Thanos in Fortnite

Thanos, the villain in the blockbuster movie Avengers: Infinity War, has arrived in Fortnite: Battle Royale for a limited time game mode, Infinity Gauntlet. Like his counterpart in the film, the Mad Titan is extremely powerful in Fortnite — so much so that developers nerfed him within a few hours of arriving in the game.

How to Become Thanos in Fortnite

During an Infinity Gauntlet match, a meteor will come crashing down somewhere on the map and leave the Infinity Gauntlet on the ground. An indicator on your map will show you where the item is located. The first one to pick up the Infinity Gauntlet will become Thanos.

You still have a chance to become Thanos if another player has already picked up the Infinity Gauntlet. If you can manage to kill Thanos, the Gauntlet will be dropped on the ground free for anyone to pick up once again. It will disappear if it sits on the ground for too long and will return via another meteor.

What Can Thanos Do in Fortnite?

Thanos is not your typical Fortnite character. You won’t need to find good weapons or acquire resources for building. He gets by using his brute strength and the power of the Infinity Stones. The Mad Titan does not take fall damage and is equipped with health and shields, the latter of which regenerates when eliminating opposing players.

Additionally, his abilities include:

  • Ability 1 — A mighty punch that knocks enemies back and destroys structures
  • Ability 2 — Thanos flies towards the ground, hitting an area for knockback and damage
  • Ability 3 — Harness the energy of the Power stone to fire a blast that deals damage over time
  • Ability 4 — A super-jump that can vault Thanos over all but the largest obstructions

Thanos Nerfed in Fortnite: Battle Royale

The Infinity Gauntlet mode in Fortnite: Battle Royale has already become immensely popular in the little time it has been live. Matches can become extremely chaotic and fun. However, some players took to forums like Reddit to voice complaints that it was nearly impossible to take down the Mad Titan.

For that reason, developers at Epic Games have made a few small adjustments to the character. His shield and health have each been reduced by 100 and the damage from his Power stone blast has been reduced from 15 to 12. These are minor tweaks but they should go a long way in making the game mode fun for all players.

The Infinity Gauntlet mode in Fortnite: Battle Royale is live now for a limited time, and Avengers: Infinity War is in theaters now.
