Tekken Tag Tournament 2 Getting New Characters and Stages
Tekken Tag Tournament 2 is getting free updates with new content beginning Oct. 9. Namco Bandai will be adding new characters and stages to the game in sequential updates.
New playable characters will be added to the game via the free content. Dr. Bosconovitch, Unknown, Slim Bob, Miharu Hirano, Sebastian and Violet are all being added to Tekken Tag Tournament 2.
The game is also getting four new stages. They will be set in Russia, Chile, Saudi Arabia, and Magic Show (wherever that is).
Rather than coming out in a single DLC pack, Namco Bandai will be adding content in small, frequent updates to the game via an online connection. Most importantly, it will all be free.
Aside from the first release of new content on Oct. 9, no set timeline for the free updates is known.
The new playable characters being released were previously discovered to be coded on the disc, continuing the debate of on-disc DLC. However, Namco Bandai decided to take a smart approach and provide the new characters and stages at no cost to gamers.
Tekken Tag Tournament 2 released last week for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 to strong reviews. The PlayStation 3 version of the game has a score of 84 on Metacritic with the Xbox 360 version scoring an 81. The game has similar scores on GameRankings, with the PS3 version at 84 percent and the Xbox 360 ranking 82 percent.
The game has been praised for its combat system, online play, customizable soundtrack and new Fight Lab mode. Fight Lab is a tutorial type mode that allows players to master even the most difficult Tekken moves. The revamped online system includes free access to worldtekkenfederation.com. World Tekken Federation is an online experience featuring advanced stat tracking and special challenges for players.
A Wii U version of the game is expected to debut Nov. 18.
