Tales of Zestiria Announced for North America

Namco Bandai revealed that Tales of Zestiria, the newest game in their popular Tales franchise, will be coming to North America on the PlayStation 3. The game was recently revealed at an event in Japan but this announcement marks the first time a Tales game has been simultaneously announced in Japan and the West.
Tales of Zestiria marks the commemorative title for the 20th Japanese anniversary of the Tales franchise. However, very little is known about the game currently. Said to be a return to the series’ roots, the battle system for the game was designed after the team received fan feedback. Four designers from previous games will also be designing characters: Kosuke Fujishima, Mutsumi Inomata, Minoru Iwamoto, and Daigo Okumura.
[adsense250itp]Japan will receive Tales of Zestiria sometime in 2014 but a release window for North America was not given. Those keeping track will remember that the recent Tales of Xillia was released on the PS3 in 2011 in Japan but only came out this year in North America. This dual announcement hopefully means that localization of Tales of Zestiria won’t take as long.
Players hungry for Tales games do have two titles to look for in 2014. Feb. 25 will see the release of Tales of Symphonia Chronicles on the PS3, featuring the breakout Symphonia game and its sequel. The collection will include new HD graphics and content and be the first time a Tales game features both an English and Japanese audio track. Though a solid release date hasn’t been given, Tales of Xillia 2 is also due out next year on the PS3. It will feature two brand new characters plus the return of characters from the previous game.
