Sunset Overdrive Announced for Xbox One

/ Jun 14th, 2013 No Comments

Sunset Overdrive

Sunset Overdrive will release exclusively for the Xbox One, developer Insomniac Games and Microsoft announced at the company’s E3 press conference.

The game was announced via a teaser trailer that featured no gameplay. The exclusive Sunset Overdrive trailer depicted a very colorful, intricate world and unique art style.

Sunset Overdrive’s main character is shown using free-running and parkour to find his way around a bright, vast city while either escaping or killing the hordes of mutant-type hell creatures that have taken over. Throughout the process, several other friends join him in destroying the mutants, suggesting co-op play will be a major element in the game.

Scrounging for items and using them in imaginative ways appears to be a major gameplay feature. Weapons, such as a canon-style gun that fires vinyl records, will likely have to be crafted out of objects easily found throughout the city. The trailer also showcases some type of canned formula that attaches to weapon to provide explosive results.

On their partnership with Microsoft Studios and the agreement to release Sunset Overdrive exclusively for Xbox One, Insomniac Games stated confidence on how Xbox One will provide the developer with the ability to enable timely content updates and keep an open two-way dialogue with their fans.

Sunset Overdrive shows a continued commitment from Insomniac Games to provide their long-time devoted fans with a genuinely new experience while also providing the rest of the gaming world an energetic new title with plenty of visually stunning elements. Responsible for such releases as the Spyro the Dragon series, Ratchet & Clank, and the much darker Resistance series, Insomniac Games is no stranger to pushing the boundaries of both imagination and their own demographical reach.

A release date for Sunset Overdrive was not announced. The teaser trailer for the game can be viewed below.
