Image & Form announced its latest hit, SteamWorld Dig will release on Wii U in fall 2014.
[adsense250itp]The most recent title in the SteamWorld series, SteamWorld Dig takes players on a platforming adventure through the underground of an old western mining town. As Rusty, players solve puzzles and move strategically through mines to gain tools and avoid enemies.
Often citing the game’s visual appeal and addictive gameplay, SteamWorld Dig has received critical acclaim since its release last year. The game was nominated for multiple awards, including Best Indie Game and Best Handheld Game, in 2013.
SteamWorld Dig is currently available on Steam and for PlayStation 4, PS Vita, and Nintendo 3DS.

According to the Image & Form blog, the developers are excited to bring their game to Nintendo’s home console, despite interviews released earlier this year claiming they were not planning to develop it for the Wii U. The company was skeptical if an indie game could positively affect the lackluster sales of the console. However, fan outcry asking for the game to be released on the Wii U seems to have pushed the developing team to accommodate the demand.
Image & Form is currently looking to incorporate the Wii U’s unique GamePad controller into the game, but for now is unsure exactly how this will be accomplished. More updates will be released as fall approaches.
