Star Wars Angry Birds on the Way

The midichlorians, so many.

Angry Birds is about to gain a boost to its insanely huge popularity and merchandising ability because today Rovio teased a new look for the avian franchise that has become a cultural phenomenon, Star Wars. Yes, it would appear that a Star Wars Angry Birds game is in development. On the official Angry Birds twitter feed yesterday afternoon, Rovio posted a teaser image featuring one of the Finnish Company’s iconic birds shrouded in a brown robe. The picture features a black ground lighted by blue and white hues giving a heavy shadow to the bird in the robe. While the style was distinctly similar to a popular film franchise, nothing was concrete. However, today a tumblr for Angry Birds went live that has been confirmed by Rovio as the official Angry Birds tumblr. The only post on the new blog is that same twitter image, but now it is an animated gif. The animation is not the only change to the image, the bird is now holding a light saber, and the image shows the weapon turning on illuminating the shrouded bird. This suggests that the next thing for Angry Birds must be some sort of Star Wars Angry Birds game.

[adsense250itp]Even though the tumblr post is light on tangible information outside of the teaser image, it does mention a forthcoming announcement. The announcement will occur October 8th at 10am EST at Times Square in New York City. As an added hint, the blog implores fans in New York to head to the Times Square Toys R Us at 8am that day. It is possible that the announcement will be toy and merchandise based, at least as far as the October 8th announcement concerns.  However, no concrete details have surfaced about what exactly this teaser image means for the franchise, it would be safer to bet on it being a new Star Wars Angry Birds game coming, even if new Star Wars themed Angry Birds merchandise will be on sale starting October 8th. Especially with the recently released Angry Birds Trilogy for PS3, Xbox 360 and 3DS, developing this new game concurrently with iOS and Android devices and consoles as DLC makes sense from a business stand point. Whatever the Star Wars Angry Birds teaser image means, it will likely hold plenty of interests for fans both of the Star Wars and Angry Birds franchises. Which Angry Bird character mash-up are you looking forward to the most? Will there be a White Bird meets Jabba the Hut?

I work at TRU we have a Jabba Jenga Angry bird game, and it mentions there to download the new game at the App Store. The game we have us Han bird versus Jabba pig and Rancor pig. On the back it shows a Death Star game I haven’t seen yet. I found your post looking for a link to the new game.

I saw an Angrybirds Starwars Jenga Hasbro game at my local Toys R Us. I have a picture of it as well. You fling Xwing pilot birds using a super deformed X-with with a slingshot sticking out of it at a Jenga wall that resembles at Piggy Death Star.

The set came with an exclusive Chewie bird.
