Star Trek The Video Game Release Date Announced
After some delays, Star Trek The Video Game will finally see a release next year on April 23, 2013 on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and on PC. The PlayStation 3 version will be available through a digital download.
Digital Extremes, the studio that helped co-create the Unreal Tournament series, develop the long awaited adaptation of the seminal sci-fi series. In conjunction with Paramount Digital Entertainment, Namco Bandai Games will publish Star Trek The Video Game. The adaptation, which takes inspiration from J.J. Abrams’ 2009 reboot, has won several awards at E3. The game was originally projected for a 2012 release date, but got delayed to its new April 23 release date.
For those excited Star Trek fans that have been waiting to pre-order the game, they will have their chance starting today at participating retailers. Anyone who pre-orders the game on either PS3, Xbox 360 or PC will automatically get the Elite Officer Pack. The DLC will feature exclusive items and alternative outfits for both Kirk and Spock, both of which the players will spend plenty of time controlling in Star Trek The Video Game. The Elite Officer Pack will include the Stealth Pack (which includes stealth uniforms for Spock and Kirk and a Starfleet Type IV Stealth Sniper Rifle with extra ammo), the Brawler Pack (which includes Kirk’s dreamy leather jacket costume and Spock’s Vulcan Science Academy costume), the Kelvin Pack (which includes Kirk and Spock’s U.S.S. Kelvin uniforms and a U.S.S. Kelvin Hand Phaser), the Academy Pack (which includes Kirk’s Academy Uniform, Spock’s Officer Dress Uniform and the Academy Phaser) and the Kobayashi Maru Pack (which includes the Kobayashi Maru Uniforms for Spock and Kirk). This is a nice freebies for fans who plan on picking the game up in April for Xbox 360, PS3 or PC.
