Ubisoft announced a special edition of the upcoming third-person stealth action game, Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Blacklist. The Splinter Cell Blacklist Paladin Multi-Mission Aircraft Edition for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 will be priced at $169.99.

The Paladin Multi-Mission Aircraft Edition will be released alongside the basic edition of the game on Aug. 20.

In addition to a copy of Splinter Cell Blacklist, the collector’s edition will contain a three-channel, dual-engine remote controlled C-147B Paladin Aircraft modeled after the game’s mobile headquarters.

The Paladin Multi-Mission Aircraft Edition will also come with the 88-page Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Echoes graphic novel written by Nathan Edmondson and illustrated by Marc Laming, a limited edition Splinter Cell Blacklist poster, exclusive Billionaire’s Yacht co-op map, and bonus Upper Echelon Pack with the Dead Coast co-op map, gold sonar goggles and upper echelon suit.

Pre-orders for the limited edition of Splinter Cell Blacklist are being taken now at retail outlets.

Splinter Cell Blacklist was originally announced at last year’s E3. Once again, players will take on the role of Sam Fisher as he attempts to stop an international terrorist organization responsible for executing escalated attacks on the U.S. Fisher and his new group, Fourth Echelon, are prepared to take down the threat at any cost.

There was concern expressed about the game upon its initial announcement. In a departure for the series, the debut trailer featured more action and less stealth. However, developer Ubisoft Toronto promised Fisher will be sneaking on and around enemies as usual. Deadly action sequences can take place but gamers will also be able to avoid firefights altogether, if they so choose.

Ubisoft also recently announced the Splinter Cell series will be heading to the silver screen. In a partnership with film production company New Regency, Ubisoft will be making a movie with Tom Hardy in the lead role.
