Spider-Man will be available as a post-launch playable character in Marvel’s Avengers, but only on PlayStation platforms, developer Crystal Dynamics announced in a post on the PlayStation blog.
PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 owners will be able to play as Spider-Man in 2021. He will come with a classic outfit, but players will be able to customize his look and follow multiple skill trees to get Spidey to play how they want. An in-game event will take place once Spider-Man is ready to swing into action in the Avengers game.
Crystal Dynamics is also bringing Hawkeye to Marvel’s Avengers via post-launch DLC. There is no word on when Clint Barton’s Hawkeye will be available, but he will come with his own mission chain unique from the game’s campaign and will bring a new villain with him.
Marvel’s Avengers is set to release Sept. 4. The online beta begins Aug. 7 for those who pre-ordered the game for PS4. It will open for all PS4 players and those who pre-ordered Marvel’s Avengers for Xbox One and PC on Aug. 14. The open beta for all players starts on Aug. 21.
Completing all three HARM-room challenges in the beta will net players bonus items in Fortnite — the Hulk Smashers Pickaxe and Hulkbuster-style version of the Pickaxe.
