Spec Ops: The Line

2K Games wants gamers to brush the dust off their copies of Spec Ops: The Line. The game has received an update which includes free bonus content that adds a co-op mode to the game.

The completely free cooperative bonus content complements the game’s single-player campaign. Much like the solo campaign, the multiplayer co-op features objective-based cooperative scenarios set in Dubai after a series of catastrophic sandstorms have wrecked the city. Four new missions are included as part of the downloadable package. Each has its own unique objectives, environments and playable characters.

Two players will face hordes of enemies and blinding sandstorms on their way to completing objectives. Teamwork will play a major factor into passing the missions. Using a variety of weapons will also make being successful much easier.

The bonus content is available now for anyone who owns or purchases a copy of Spec Ops: The Line. It can be downloaded on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Windows PC.

Spec Ops: The Line already has a riveting single-player campaign and multiplayer game modes.

Spec Ops: The Line

The game released in June to solid reviews, including on Gaming Illustrated. It follows Captain Martin Walker as he leads two members of his elite Delta Squad in search of Colonel John Conrad and his missing battalion, The Damned 33rd.

Developed by Yager, Spec Ops: The Line was highly lauded for its unique and engaging single-player storytelling featuring multiple endings. However, the game’s multiplayer was not up to par with modern shooters.

Take Two Interacitve reported the sales for the game yielded disappointing results. Although sales figures were not given, the company said Spec Ops: The Line failed to reach sales expectations. Perhaps adding a co-op mode can help push sales for the holiday season and encourage gamers who originally passed on the game to buy it now.
