The trailer reveals some of the new enemies Sonic will be facing in Lost World and the powers he will have at his disposal to defeat them.
Sonic will be able to transform from his normal hedgehog state to a bird to conquer the sky using the Eagle power. He will also be able to activate the Asteroid power, which turns him into a floating planetary object that destroys everything in its path. The Rhythm power turns Sonic into a music note that bounces along a path of other notes, making music along the way.
In addition to his new powers, Sonic will also be able to use the Wisp powers that debuted in the 2010 title Sonic Colors. Wisp powers include the Yellow Drill, which allows Sonic to drill through soft water and ground, the Cyan Laser, which turns sonic into a laser that can bounce off solid objects, and the Orange Rocket, which Sonic can use to fly up into extreme heights.
The Wii and 3DS versions of Sonic Colors also featured exclusive Color Powers. It has not been revealed if those will be returning for the new Sonic game, though Sega has admitted each platform will have its own unique features designed to integrate with each control scheme. While the Wii Color Powers from Sonic Colors may not be returning for Sonic Lost World on Wii U, players will be able to tilt and touch the GamePad to use new powers.
Sonic Lost World was originally announced as a Nintendo exclusive during a Nintendo Direct presentation in May. The title is part of a three-game exclusive agreement between Sega and Nintendo that will bring the hedgehog exclusively to Nintendo consoles. The second game as part of the agreement will be Mario & Sonic at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games.
