Shaq Fu: A Legend Reborn DLC

Saber Interactive and Wired Productions announced the physical release of Shaq Fu: A Legend Reborn features special day one DLC when it releases on June 5.

The additional DLC billed as Bonus Fu is super secretive meaning the nature of it will be revealed upon opening up the package. While the exact details are sparse, the Bonus Fu extends the life of the game with new levels and a bonus famous character.

Shaq has to battle through hordes of enemies to achieve redemption.

The publisher and developer are hoping the DLC catches people off guard when they open up their games on release.

“… we wanted to make the physical retail edition something truly memorable for gamers who prefer something more tangible and collectable. When they open up their box copies we’re genuinely intrigued and excited to gauge players’ reactions to the additional DLC content,” Leo Zullo, Managing Director at Wired Productions said of the Bonus Fu inclusion at retail.

In the sequel to 1994’s Shaq Fu, Shaq Fu: A Legend Reborn allows players to become the man, Shaquille O’Neal. The unstoppable behemoth of a man must fight his way through hordes of hell and Hollywood in order to redeem his legacy.

The game’s beat ‘em up gameplay requires players to master combos, battle celebrity bosses and fight through enemies using weapons like katanas, baseball bats, and more. Channel Shaq’s alter egos: Big Daddy O and Big Diesel to give you the edge in combat.

Shaq Fu: A Legend Reborn hits retail on June 5 for $29.99 on PS4 and Xbox One, and $39.99 for Nintendo Switch bundled inside is the secret Bonus Fu.

Our Take

Shaquille O’Neal is one of the most indelible figures in sports, and his popularity both on and off the court are immeasurable. A testament to how large a shadow the man casts on the cultural zeitgeist is evident when Shaq Fu: A Legend Reborn met its crowdfunding goal back in 2014. The masses were eager for another attempt to step into the massive shoes of Shaq Diesel.

Saber Interactive and Wired Productions are doing it up in style with the secret DLC for the game’s physical release. Whether or not the game lives up to expectations, the announcement and delivery of Shaq Fu: A Legend Reborn’s Bonus Fu is special, which is only fitting given the man who stars in the game.
