The Kickstarter campaign for the upcoming RPG Shadowrun: Hong Kong has reached its minimum goal of $100,000. This ensures that the game will be finished and released sometime mid-2015.
The crowdfunded goal was reached just hours after the Kickstarter campaign was launched Jan. 14. However, the campaign will continue until Feb. 17. Additional funds will be used toward reaching stretch goals that will help in the creation of planned side missions, enhanced features and expanding in-game abilities.
At least $400,000 has been earned so far that will guarantee enhanced game controls, better sound, improved animations and two characters that can join the player’s crew. The most complete game experience will be guaranteed when total funding reaches $700,000.
Shadowrun: Hong Kong will be the third game by Harebrained Schemes based on the popular Shadowrun tabletop RPG. It will be released exclusively for PC, and will be a follow-up to Shadowrun Returns and its standalone expansion, Shadowrun: Dragonfall.
The fact that the Kickstarter for this upcoming game was able to meet its goal so quickly is a reflection of how much faith and appreciation players have for yet another Shadowrun project by independent developer Harebrained Schemes. If funding continues to be as spectacular as its been so far, Shadowrun: Hong Kong promises to be yet another fantastic trip into the cyberpunk universe of Shadowrun.
