Sea of Thieves – Play It First Contest

/ Mar 10th, 2016 No Comments

Sea of Thieves

Rare has recently revamped their Sea of Thieves website. Coinciding with the redesign Rare announced a fan contest related to the game itself. Fans are being invited to create art of video and either share it via Twitter or Facebook with the hashtag #SeaOfThievesContest. The winner of this contest will win an all-expenses paid trip to Twycross, UK where they will meet the development team as well as be one of the first to try out Sea of Thieves.

The contest encourages creativity in how fans express their excitement for Sea of Thieves, making suggestions such as cosplay, home-made pirate ships and other various ideas. Rare will wrap the contest up on April 26th and entries are being accepted at any time prior to the contest’s end.

Sea of Thieves

If the contest was exclusively to meet this cat, it’d crash their servers.

The revamped site featuring the rules for the Sea of Thieves contest doesn’t offer much more information regarding the game itself. Some new images are shown and the text with those images indicates the game will feature co-op and competitive multiplayer aspects related to sea-faring and treasure finding. Along with the E3 teaser, which features skeletons coming back to life, the image of a Kraken attacking a vessel on the site would indicate the game will have many fantastic elements featured in its gameplay and lore.

Quicktake

There is nothing more exciting right now than Rare coming back into the gaming fold and not churning out another Kinect game. While they’ve shown their signature comedy consistently throughout the years, it’s no big secret Rare has been wanting to make a pirate game for some time. This title looks to be the pirate MMO everyone will be talking about, while also being a fairly family friendly experience that everyone from Grandpa to little Timmy can get in on. E3 2016 is going to show off a lot of cool tech and software this year, but nothing has me more excited than Sea of Thieves.

Full contest and rules can be plundered here.
