5th Cell and Warner Bros. Interactive announced Scribblenauts Unmasked: A DC Comics Adventure will be coming to consoles and 3DS this fall.
As its title suggests, the game will combine the emergent puzzle-based gameplay of Scribblenauts with officially licensed characters from the DC universe.
The latest Scribblenauts game will feature more than 2,000 characters from the DC universe, which includes alternate versions of many DC heroes and villains. For example, players will be able to choose from 33 different Batman variations as well as 130 adaptations of Green Lantern.
[adsense250itp]Caleb Arseneaux, a producer at 5th Cell, even goes so far as to claim that “the entire roster — [even] characters who appeared in [only] one panel in a comic in 1956” will be included in Scribblenauts Unmasked.
A key feature of Scribblenauts games is the ability to combine words to create new, often wacky in-game objects, and to that end, Scribblenauts Unmasked both continues and expands upon the tradition set by its predecessors. Players will be able to use a hero editor to create their own super-superheroes that can be used in-game like any other object in the Scribblenauts world.
DC Comics’ influence will extend beyond just providing characters from its universe, as Scribblenauts Unmasked will also feature DC-related challenges and situations as part of its gameplay.
“The puzzles are much more unlimited [compared to previous Scribblenaut games],” 5th Cell CEO Jeremiah Slaczka stated in a recent interview. “Every time you go into a level, it’s going to be populated with random events. Maybe there’s a fire, maybe there’s a mugging, maybe a super villain is trying to take over a city.”
Scribblenauts Unmasked: A DC Comics Adventure is set to release this fall on 3DS, Wii U and PC.
