Sahara iPhone 6 Case Review

When it comes to cellphones, there is little variety. The market is dominated by Apple’s iPhone and Samsung’s line of Galaxy phones, and neither company offers much in terms of uniqueness. However, the cellphone industry is packed with case makers that can provide durability and personality to smartphones. Unfortunately, many of these companies fail to deliver on their promises, and the iPhone’s Corning glass screen continues to be fragile.

Sahara Case, an Idaho-based case manufacturer, believes it has found the solution by offering a durable case with a tempered glass screen protector.

Protect and Serve

Apple has gone to great lengths to design an aesthetically pleasing smartphone, but this too often goes to waste by placing the device in an ugly, oddly shaped case. The flagship phone case from Sahara Case features a sleek, thin design. We reviewed the company’s iPhone 6 model, but a similar case is available for recent Samsung Galaxy phones and previous iPhones.

Most phone cases sacrifice design for durability, but that isn’t true for Sahara Case. The phone cover offers protection without using ugly materials or becoming overly bulky. Because iPhone users more frequently damage the edges of their devices, Sahara uses TPU to line the case. This successfully absorbs the blow on most drops, but the smooth plastic back keeps the overall design light and thin. The glossy plastic portion of the back suffers minor scratches and dings when dropped, but the case does its job of keeping the phone safe.

Another frequent complaint regarding iPhones is the glass screen, which is sometimes destroyed after the slightest fall, rendering the touchscreen useless. Screen protectors help prevent smudges and scratches, but do nothing against gravity. To protect the phone’s most fragile piece, every Sahara Case is packaged with a tempered glass screen cover. This seems like it would be a hindrance, but users are easily able to glide their fingertips across the screen as if there was nothing there. Rounded-off edges ensure the glass protector is safe to use, and touchscreen functions work without a hitch. Combined with the case’s shock-absorbing edges, it helps protect the most important part of your phone.

Sahara Case further separates itself from the crowded case market by offering improved picture quality. Yes, it seems strange that a simple case can make images look better, but that is what Sahara Case promises. The case’s lens hood helps eliminate lens flare and brighten colors.

We noticed little difference on photos taken indoors or at night, but some daytime outdoor shots were improved. The lens hood reduces the effects of sunlight and glare on images, making for brighter, crisper photos. You won’t be replacing your DSLR, but photos that may be impacted by sunlight are noticeably improved.

Priced at $21.50, the Sahara Case iPhone 6 case is a solid value compared to most cases. It offers the protection of more expensive models, but it does so in a slim, modern package. The free tempered glass screen protector that comes with every purchase makes the Sahara Case one of the best phone cases on the market.

The Sahara Case iPhone 6 case was reviewed using a case sent by Sahara Case.

Gaming Illustrated RATING

At less than half the price of other well-known case brands, the Sahara Case represents a significant value. The tempered glass screen protector is an added bonus.

The slim design is modern and sleek. Our only complaint is the glossy plastic on the back that picks up scratches and dings quickly.

Sahara Case researched to find out where most phone damage occurs. The TPU edges absorb the blow most of the time and the screen protector helps protect the glass.
