Roll7 and 505 Games Announces Laser League for 2018

505 Games is partnering with Roll7 to bring Laser League to PC, PS4, and Xbox One in 2018. Laser League enters Early Access on Steam this summer.

Laser League is a multiplayer action game with an arcade-style approach. The game marries addictive gameplay with the thrill of online competition in 4v4 online or local multiplayer matches. Matches set two teams against each other with the goal of controlling the opposition’s nodes.

Set in 2150, Laser League is a high-octane contact sport where teams duke it out in a neon-bathed arena as they avoid other players and devastating lights. While evading the opposing team’s colored light beams, players must attempt to overwhelm their opponent with speed, strength, and strategy. Utilizing special offensive and defensive abilities and power-ups, players can gain the edge against the opposition to gain control of their nodes.

Laser League is designed to be accessible and immediately understandable with plenty of depth for those who want to use complex strategies to win. The arcade-y approach to gameplay structure lets matches be intuitive and easily approachable to any player regardless of skill.

Roll7 is best known for the acclaimed OlliOlli series and Not a Hero. This is the developer’s first foray into a bigger, 3D game.

Quick Take

Roll7 is a darling developer over here at Gaming Illustrated. We were ready for whatever they had cooked up next but a futuristic, neon competitive contact sport is right up our alley. The arcade approach to 4v4 competitive matches has us excited to see what exactly Laser League has to offer. Hopefully, the beta and Early Access launching this summer gives a good idea of what it means to compete in a laser filled arena.
