Rockstar Teasing Red Dead Redemption Sequel

After years of speculation and recent rumors that never came to fruition, it appears that Rockstar Games has confirmed the existence of a follow-up to 2010’s Red Dead Redemption.
On the company’s official Twitter page and on its website, Rockstar posted two images. The first featured the Rockstar logo in a seemingly Red Dead-inspired colorway. The second image is less subtle, showing seven cowboy figures.

Rockstar has not said anything further and did not add a caption to either of the images.
Rumors have suggested that the next installment in the Red Dead franchise would be a prequel to Red Dead Redemption. That suggests it could follow main character John Marston and his old gang.
Previously, an image of a map purported to be the setting for the next Red Dead game made rounds online. The huge landscape included the city of New Bordeaux, which can currently be visited in Mafia 3, and the Great Plains, an important location in Red Dead Redemption.
An official announcement is expected relatively soon given the concept art, but Rockstar tends to slowly tease things before release, so it could be a week or more before we finally see a trailer for a Red Dead Redemption sequel.
Red Dead Redemption is currently backwards compatible on Xbox One. Red Dead Revolver, the 2004 title for PlayStation 2 and Xbox, recently released digitally on PlayStation 4.
