/ Jul 3rd, 2013 1 Comment

Rise of the Triad

The highly anticipated re-make of Rise of the Triad will be available July 31 for $14.99, Apogee Software and Interceptor Entertainment announced.

Players who pre-order the game before the release date will get the retro version of the game free. Pre-orders are available now.

Apogee is also including a free download of the Apogee Throwback Pack for all pre-orders. The Throwback Pack features a bundle of original classics including Rise of the Triad: Dark War, Extreme Rise of the Triad, Blake Stone: Aliens of Gold and Blake Stone: Planet Strike. The classic titles are currently available for $9.99 each.

Pre-orders for the game can be purchased through Steam, GOG.com, Green Man Gaming and the Apogee site.

Rise of the Triad is a first-person shooter with magic elements based on the original game of the same name developed by 3D Realms and Apogee in 1995. The revival of the game is powered by Unreal Engine 3.

The re-make will sustain all of the original’s levels of greatness from the original weapons, game modes and secrets but with better graphics, improved gameplay, achievements and multiplayer scoreboards.

Rise of the Triad will feature a full sinlge-player campaign mode. Like the original, players will choose from one of unique characters to play as through more than 20 levels. The game will also include an action-packed multiplayer mode. All of the original game modes are back in the new version of the game, including God mode, Elasto mode, Mercury mode, Shrooms mode and Dog mode.

The game will also give players the ability to create their own levels and mods to share with all players through Valve Steamworks.

Along with the announcement of the Rise of the Triad release date, Interceptor released a trailer for the game. The trailer shows some of the fast-paced, intense action players will experience during the game. The trailer can be viewed below.

I’m absolutely stoked for this. Already preordered my copy from GOG.com and cannot wait to see if this is just as good as the original Rise of the Triad.
