RIFT Storm Legion Open Beta Announced

Following a successful closed beta, Trion Worlds has officially announced an open beta event for the very first expansion of their popular, not to mention well received, fantasy MMORPG RIFT. The expansion, Storm Legion, will begin its open beta phase Nov. 2 at 10 a.m. PST and runs until Nov. 5 at 8 a.m.
“The first two closed beta stress tests were big successes and we appreciate all the valuable feedback that we’ve used to improve and polish Storm Legion,” said Scott Hartsman, the executive producer for Rift and chief commercial officer for Trion Worlds, “After months of hard work, we’re ready to show this incredible game to the world, and we encourage RIFT fans old and new to log in and try it out before the official launch on Nov. 13.”
Storm Legion will boost a spectacular number of changes and additions, with the biggest addition being two new continents to explore that will triple the overall size of RIFT’s already immense world. The increase will come with a plethora of new places to explore, new dungeons, new puzzles and new raid zones. With these new locations come new threats in the form of brand new enemies and bosses, the most prominent of which is a huge Colossus that will interact with the game world in a very unique manner not yet revealed.
To help characters survive the new changes, players will now be able to reach a level of 60 (sorry free-to-play users, you’re still going to be stuck at level 20) with an expanded Ascended Class System, RIFT’s unique character development system. Players will also be given greater control over how they can develop and level up their adventurer through questing, onslaughts, rifts and more. Gamers can do all this while looking for brand new artifacts, riding new mounts, getting new achievements and trying on fabulous new capes that can pump up stats. The sky is practically the limit where sculpting your virtual self is concerned.
The final version of Storm Legion will be officially released for purchase on Nov. 17.
