Retro Inspired Platformer Blood of the Werewolf Comes to Steam

/ Oct 24th, 2013 No Comments

Blood of the Werewolf

Blood of the Werewolf, a retro inspired platformer from developer Scientifically Proven will release on Steam on Oct. 28 for $9.99.

Blood of the Werewolf tells the story of Selena, a woman with a thirst for revenge after her husband is murdered and her son is kidnapped. The twist is that Selena is a werewolf, and one of the last alive. Players will traverse across across ten levels and fight five bosses (featuring iconic movie monsters) to rescue Selena’s son who is being held captive by Dracula.

One of the biggest hooks behind Blood of the Werewolf is that the game was developed by Scientifically Proven to be an homage to old-school platformers. The game won’t be easy as it will require precise movements, great timing, and memorization to complete its hardcore levels. The extreme challenge can only be matched by the great reward in completing Selena’s journey.

Over the course of the game, players will use Selena’s crossbow to take on enemies from a distance. But when she is hit by the light of the moon, Selena transforms into her werewolf form. As a werewolf, players will engage enemies in close combat and have a special double jump. Blood of the Werewolf features full air controls to add a layer of depth and accuracy to jumping puzzles and general platforming elements.

Blood of the Werewolf also includes fully upgradeable weapons along with hundreds of hidden collectibles scattered through levels. Ancient talismans will open up new and more powerful werewolf abilities for Selena. Additionally, the game includes online leaderboards which will track best times, number of deaths and more so players can see how their skills match up to others. The game is also planned for a release on consoles in the first quarter of 2014.
