EA announced Titanfall developer Respawn Entertainment is working on a 3rd person action adventure game set in the Star Wars universe.
The Respawn Star Wars Game was announced as a part of “May the Fourth”, which many have come to see as Star Wars day, in celebration of the famous “May the force be with you” quote.
Stig Asmussen is leading his own team at Respawn who will work on the Star Wars game. Vince Zampella and his team are currently working on Titanfall 2, which was recently teased and will be talked more about later this year. EA also mentioned that Visceral Games, DICE, Capital Games, BioWare, and Motive are all teams currently working on Star Wars projects.
The Star Wars team at Respawn is already looking to add more talent by hiring in all departments to expand it’s work in the game’s development.
Ever since the tease and cancellation of Star Wars 1313, fans have been frothing at the mouth for a proper 3rd person Star Wars game. Battlefront was a beautiful take on the universe and captured many Star Wars elements as a first-person shooter. If Asmussen can bring the pedigree of Titanfall and God of War 3 to the table, this new Star Wars game definitely has promise.
