Resident Evil Social Site to Launch with Resident Evil 6

As if the zombie apocalypse couldn’t settle for taking over the physical world, they had to take the cyber one too. Capcom has announced Residentevil.net, a gamer’s network dream to accompany Resident Evil 6, to be released on October 2.

Like Diablo III and World of Warcraft, Residentevil.net will allow players to compare their game stats online with those around the world from a personal homepage. Things like what kind of enemy was killed, Mercenaries scores, and proficiency of weapons will be accessible via the site. These will be updated instantly and in real time so that any changes can be seen at anytime.

Players will be given regularly scheduled challenges, like killing 10,000 zombies in a time limit. After completing such a challenge, a player will win the Championship Belt. This belt can be lost if the player cannot uphold these challenges, so you have to keep winning to hold onto that title. But don’t worry, all champions will have their name posted on a champion’s list for eternal glory and reverence. Points can also be earned in various amounts while completing challenges and accessing certain areas of Residentevil.net. These points can be used to purchase prizes on the site like customizable figures and rare costumes that can be imported in the actual game.

A copy of Resident Evil 6 and a Playstation Network or Xbox Live account are required to access Residentevil.net. The site’s release date has not yet been confirmed as the same as the complementary game but should be soon after.

Capcom developers are also working a phone app for the site coming to a mobile device near you. And yes, you will be able to link your Residentevil.net account with your Facebook and Twitter accounts. That’s how the zombies are infecting the system!
