Remedy Reveals Control for 2019

/ Jun 12th, 2018 No Comments

Control

Remedy Entertainment and 505 Games revealed Control during the Sony PlayStation E3 media briefing with a debut trailer.

Formerly known under the codename “P7”, Control is a third-person action-adventure game bringing Remedy’s penchant for gunplay with supernatural abilities. As seen in the trailer a core tenant of Control is juxtaposing the familiarities of reality with the strange and unexplainable.

In Control players take on the role of Jesse Faden. She is the new director of a secretive agency in New York. When the bureau is invaded by an otherworldly threat Jesse struggles to regain control of the agency.

Control drops players into a sandbox with gameplay driving the experience. It is built the proprietary Northlight engine challenging players to master a combination of supernatural abilities, different loadouts, and reactive environments as they explore and fight through a familiar and all-together mysterious world.

For Remedy, Control represents a new chapter where the developer can reshape and redefine what its games are about. Mikael Kasurinen, game director of Control said of the new approach, “A key focus for Remedy has been to provide more agency through gameplay and allow our audience to experience the story of the world at their own pace.”

Control releases on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC in 2019.

Our Take

Control was definitely one of the more eye catching trailers during Sony’s E3 press conference. From the jump it felt a spiritually similar to Remedy’s last game Quantum Break. The visuals were bold and the gameplay was intriguing. We can’t wait to find out more about Control before its 2019 release window.
