Red Dead Redemption 2 Story Trailer Released

Red Dead Redemption 2 Trailer

It’s been almost one year since Rockstar Games unveiled new information about Red Dead Redemption 2. The game, which was pushed back from its fall 2017 release window, has been under tight wraps, as is the usually the case with Rockstar.

The company released a new trailer for Red Dead Redemption 2, and we finally learned some of the details of the game’s plot.

Red Dead Redemption 2 tells the story of Arthur Morgan, who is referred to in the trailer as “a wanted man.” It appears that this time around, you’ll be playing the role of an outlaw in the wild west.

A description included with the release of the trailer says the game follows “the story of outlaw Arthur Morgan and the Van der Linde gang.” Dutch Van der Linde, who appears briefly in the trailer, was a major character in Red Dead Redemption.

This means Red Dead Redemption 2 is likely to be a prequel. “Dutch’s gang” split up in 1906 after a botched robbery. Government agents tracked down the gang and one of the members, John Marston, was left for dead. In Red Dead Redemption, federal agents force the main character, Marston, to hunt down his old gang buddies, including Dutch.

Marston does not appear in the trailer for Red Dead Redemption 2 and none of the names of “Dutch’s gang” members from the original title are mentioned. The game could be focusing on a time earlier in Dutch’s life (hence the reference to the “Van der Linde gang” rather than “Dutch’s gang), or perhaps Rockstar is saving a Marston reveal for later.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is expected to release in spring 2018.
