Pre-orders for the PC version of Rayman Legends are available now. Anyone who pre-orders the game will receive a free copy of Rayman Origins.
The road to Rayman Legends’ release has been a long and frustrating one for fans of the series. A trailer for the game at Gamescon 2012 revealed that it would be a Wii U exclusive launch title available in November 2012. It was announced in October of 2012 that Rayman Legends was delayed and a later release date was scheduled for February 2013.
Ubisoft’s decision to further delay the release of Rayman Legends to September has been protested by fans of the series. Though the Wii U version of the game is ready, Ubisoft chose to delay it’s release so that the game could be released simultaneously on Wii U, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PS Vita and PC. The developer cited the low sales of another Wii U launch title, ZombiU, as the reason behind their decision to make the game multi-platform. Ubi’s olive branch offering to angry fans, a free Rayman Legends Online Challenges Mode with daily challenges was released in April.
Rayman Legends is the fifth main title in the Rayman franchise and the direct sequel to it’s predecessor, Rayman Origins. In Rayman Legends, Rayman returns to The Glade of Dreams. Murfy, Globox and Rayman will awake after a 100-year nap to find that The Glade of Dreams has been overrun by monsters. While they napped, nightmares multiplied and spread creating creatures. Monsters in Rayman Legends will include dragons, luchadores, giant toads and sea monsters which the trio will have to fight in order to save the Teensies.
The newest title in the Rayman franchise will mark the biggest Rayman game created to date. The game will feature new characters, new environments and a new soundtrack. Rayman Legends will also utilize an advanced UbiArt engine to create multi-dimensional gameplay elements, improve lighting and update game rendering.
