RAVPower Dual Port Travel Charger Review

Mobile technology has rapidly changed over the past few years, but charging solutions have largely remained the same. Users are still locked down to single-port chargers that use up valuable outlet space. This can be an annoyance for techies that collect gadgets, especially when packing up a smartphone, tablet and laptop for a trip. The RAVPower dual port travel charger provides a simple solution to this issue.
The wall charger plugs directly into a power outlet and contains two USB slots that will accept cords for any device. It eliminates the hassle of frequently unplugging and replacing chargers, and the inability to charge multiple devices at the same time in hotel rooms with a limited amount of available outlets.
Design and Specs
The RAVPower travel charger is a small power brick that comes in at about 2 inches on both sides and just over an inch thick. It isn’t as small as a first-party charger built for a single device, but the size difference is hardly noticeable when the charger is parked in an outlet.
RAVPower covered all of its bases with the production of the charger. Travelers who visit other countries will not need to pack a voltage adapter as the charger’s AC 110-220V input voltage automatically adapts to the outlet’s capabilities.
There are two USB ports on the device. All USB charging cables are compatible with the travel charger, so users can connect their existing cables. The smart ports will detect the device that is plugged in and give it the fastest possible charge. USB ports can give 2.4 amps to 4.8 amps of power depending on the device.
The charger is equipped with some impressive features that make it better than a standard charger. A blue LED light is displayed when a device is properly connected to a USB port, giving users instant feedback without the necessity of turning on a phone or tablet screen. The iSmart ports also prevent overcharging by stopping when a device’s battery is fully charged.
During our testing, the device did not charge smartphones as quickly as standard factory chargers, but it got the job done in an acceptable amount of time. The charger also tends to get hot if left plugged in for long periods of time. It may not be great for users looking for a quick boost, but it can easily replace any current at-home charger.
The RAVPower dual port charger is not a necessity, but it is a convenient luxury for any techie or jet-setting couple. Rather than packing separate chargers for multiple devices, the travel charger allows users to save valuable luggage space and maximize the use of power outlets.
It is regularly priced at $49.99, but it can currently be found on Amazon for only $12.99, representing a significant value. At the same price range as a standard charger, the RAVPower dual port charger makes much more sense as a purchase, whether you are looking to take it on the go or just make charging easier at home.
