Racing Games for PC

/ Jun 22nd, 2013 No Comments

If you are looking for Racing Games for PC, the good news is that there are quite a few titles coming out in 2013 and 2014 that will bring the goods. With next generation consoles already announced and ready with a line up of games, it’s hard for PC gamers to get a glimpse of what will be in store, especially for racing. Many have gone down the first person shooter, RPG and/or action adventure titles, giving racing games for PC a tough competition. But, that’s not to say there is no hope! The future is promising for fans of the track, and Need for Speed: Rivals and Project CARS will help keep that promise.

Racing Games for PC – Need for Speed: Rivals

The latest title in the Need for Speed series, Rivals will be hitting shelves November 19, 2013. Easily, this is the most anticipated racing game for PC this year, the 20th title will bring back the most popular aspects of its predecessors, and some! Players will be able to choose to be a racer or a cop, and be faced with different challenges, races and rivals. In the open world of Redview County lies infinite gameplay, with abilities for players such as EMP’s, calling in road blocks, and more. Similar features from Underground, Most Wanted, and Hot Pursuit are also confirmed, such as autolog, full customization, and a realistic weather system to change every level of play. Long time fans and new racing gamers are able to pre-order the game now, and are given pre-order bonuses like access to the Nissan GT-R Black Edition Cop Car.

Project CARS (Community Assisted Racing Simulator)

Not set for release until 2014, Project CARS will bring the racing simulator genre into a whole new light. Taking note of past titles and players’ frustrations, developers at Slightly Mad Studios are bringing in new technologies and features that will engage racers of all types. Rumors are already stirring about a virtual reality concept into the title, something very new for PC racing games, if not the gaming industry in general! A rally simulation has also been confirmed, influenced by Richard Burns Rally, and older but still very popular racing game for PC. Help from Ben Collins (Top Gear) and Nicolas Hamilton (Clio Cup driver) never hurt either! Another promising title for simulator fans, Project CARS is definitely a noteworthy title for 2014.

Grand Theft Auto V

Okay, it wasn’t mentioned before, but everyone is thinking it! Grand Theft Auto V is one of the biggest titles of 2013, and definitely deserves to be one of the most anticipated “racing” games for PC. Yes, GTA fans from around the world are eager to cause havoc in the new Los Angeles inspired city of Los Santos. Rockstar Games promises that the open world shoot-em-up will be bigger than Red Dead Redemption, Grand Theft Auto IV and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas worlds combined! And with choices among cars, motorcycles and jet skis, this will give any player plenty of racing space and chances for mayhem.

With that comes a World Series Racing event, taking the player across the globe in dynamic and ever changing stages. Dirt 3 is one of the highest rallying racing game for PC, and allows players to earn reputation points to gain sponsorship. With sponsorship, comes the ability to customize your vehicle, as well as unlock more to use. For fans of Formula 1 racing and the Grand Prix comes F1 2012. The game features all 12 teams and 24 players for the 2012 season, and for those new to the game, a tutorial is available called “Young Driver Test Mode.” And it will place you right in the driver’s seat against world renowned racers like Lewis Hamilton, Jenson Button, and Fernando Alonso! With intense races and stiff competition, F1 2012 will keep you on the edge of your seat. Burnout Paradise is a racer fan’s closest title to GTA. Players are set in an open world environment, first for the Burnout series, where they can compete against players in house or online. Challenges like “Showtime” allow players at anytime during the game to make the biggest auto crash they can, earning money. The more damage, the more dough! Closest thing to Burnout Paradise and part of the highest selling game franchise is Need for Speed: Most Wanted. With Rivals heavily influenced in gameplay, Most Wanted will pit you surrounded by police, and it’s your job to escape! There are different modes of racing, and no rules as to how you finish each one. It also introduced Cloudcompete, allowing gamers to continue their gameplay and upgrades across all platforms.

Phew! Various types and titles when it comes to racing games for PC. With great games like these, and many others, there is plenty to do before new ones are released. So rev up your engines, or computer, and be ready to take on a new challenge today!
