Puzzle Shot (iOS) Review

Puzzle Shot Review

I must take a moment to confide in you my dear reader. What I say is of the utmost severity, but I must confess it for reasons of full disclosure. I will tell you this horrible fact.
I am awful at puzzle games.

Awful, just awful. It’s horrendous. How can I call myself a gamer? Well here’s how: I endure and play through for you dear reader. You should be honored.

But while I am no good at all at puzzle games (sudoku and the occasional crossword are the farthest I venture), I can certainly detect a good puzzle game when I come upon it.

Puzzle Shot – The ultimate puzzle game” by IgelGames pronounces itself “A simple puzzle game for the whole family,” and while simple might be a stretch, undoubtedly anyone can pick up this title and give it their best shot (Puzzle “Shot,” get it? Punny, I know).

The object of the game is to eliminate all of the colored spheres on the game board. To do this, players must line up three spheres of the same color. Simple, right? Not so fast. The trick to it is that the spheres can only be moved once each, and only in one direction. If this still sounds awfully easy (Miranda, is this even a puzzle?), then perhaps you require a visual.

With numerous levels spanning two difficulty modes, Puzzle Shot will satisfy your brain’s cravings for a challenge. While the puzzles may start off easy, I promise a few levels in and you will be staring at the board, flicking balls around wondering if it’s even solvable or if the game’s creators are just yanking your chain.

Because you will likely be staring at a single puzzle (at some point) for what feels like hours on end, it is important that the appearance be visually appealing and the sound, heaven to the ears.

The game’s creators do just that. The design of the game is clean and simple, giving you little distraction from the task at hand, absolutely fitting for the mood of the app. The music is upbeat and works wonders to calm your inevitable frustrations with the puzzles, or might pump you up more causing you to solve all of the in one go. That would depend on you.

Noteworthy, also, is the maneuverability present, by which I mean that players can enjoy this title both horizontally and vertically. It can be quite annoying when your hands prefer a horizontal grip (like mine) and your game of the day just won’t quite do it. iPhone users can surely empathize, especially when there’s a keyboard involved.

The sheer challenge of this title will bring you back again and again, even if you get stuck on one particular challenge. Easy to pick up for the first time or the twentieth, Puzzle Shot is available from the App Store for $1.99.

Sounds interesting, I believe I will give it a try. Love Puzzle Games but there are too less good ones out there…

This is an excellent game, but I have been stuck on one particular puzzle for two weeks. The app allows hints to be turned on, but none show up. Does anyone know how to contact the developer?
