Pokémon X/Y Gets Shiny Gengar, Diancie in November

/ Sep 11th, 2014 No Comments

The Pokémon Company announced Pokémon X/Y owners can get two special Pokémon this fall. Shiny Gengar and Diancie are going to be special distribution Pokémon in October and November.

Shiny Gengar is going to be available at participating GameStop locations from Oct. 13-26. The ghost Pokémon will be holding a Gengarite Mega Stone allowing him to Mega Evolve during battle into Shiny Mega Gengar. Fans can pick up a special code card from the store to get their own Shiny Gengar.

Shiny Mega Gengar and Diancie

In addition to the special Shiny Gengar code card, participating GameStop locations will have the Pokémon TCG: Gengar Spirit Link 2-pack starting Oct. 13. The 2-pack includes two booster packs from the Pokémon TCG: XY-Furious Fists expansion and the Gengar Spirit Link Pokémon Trainer card. The Gengar card debuts in XY – Phantom Forces, the next Pokémon TCG expansion.

Starting Oct. 27 to Nov. 16, GameStop will give away a code card to receive the Mythical Pokémon Diancie for Pokémon X or Y. Diancie can then be transferred to Pokémon Omega Ruby or Alpha Sapphire after receiving it when the two games launch on Nov. 21. While it won’t hold its Mega Stone, players can find the Diancite Mega Stone in game and Mega Evolve Diancie during battle.

Quick Take

These Pokémon distribution events are always fun. It is a cool way for The Pokémon Company to give back to fans and support the game way past its release. Hunting down code cards from GameStop is not as cool as when they do active online distributions, but a quick trip to your local store for some Shinies isn’t so bad.
