Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare release date

Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare will be priced at $29.99 when it releases and the game will not have a single-player mode, developer PopCap Games said in an interview with ShackNews.

The game based on the multi-platform hit Plants vs Zombies will be available for $29.99 when it launches on Xbox 360 and PC. The version of the game for Xbox One, which will feature more polished visuals, will be priced at $39.99. The title will be available both as a physical disc and digital download.

Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare will release exclusively for Xbox One for an exclusive time window. Details on how long Microsoft’s timed-exclusivity have not been revealed. PopCap also announced Peggle 2 will also launch first on Xbox One.

No solo campaign or option to play a single-player mode will be available in Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare. The game, which encourages cooperative play, will include three multiplayer game types. The Xbox One version of the game will feature two-player co-op using the split-screen format. All versions of the game will include 24-player multiplayer game modes and four-player online co-op games. Microsoft announced the Xbox One will support up to eight controllers on each console.

PopCap plans to keep players engaged and interested in Plants vs Zombie Garden Warfare by offering constant content updates and DLC at no extra charge.

Xbox One players with access to Microsoft’s SmartGlass will be able to play the Xbox One-exclusive Boss mode. The game mode gives players a tactical view high above the game map on their SmartGlass-compatible smartphone or tablet. The player can then act as a field general by controlling units and developing strategy.

PopCap, which was acquired by EA in 2011, originally announced the upcoming third-person shooter on stage during the EA press conference at E3 in Los Angeles.

Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare is set to launch in Spring 2014.
