Plants vs. Zombies 2 Release Date Announced

/ Jun 25th, 2013 2 Comments

Plants vs Zombies 2

Plants vs. Zombies 2: It’s About Time, the highly anticipated follow up to the popular game from EA partner Pop Cap, is hitting iOS devices July 18.

The colorful new version of the fan favorite game premiered at E3 with new levels, zombies, plants and new ways to play. Plants vs. Zombies veterans will enjoy the familiarity of killing zombies with well-placed attack or defense plants and enjoy creative new content and techniques.

Returning to Plants vs. Zombies 2 is Crazy Dave, the more than slightly off kilter neighbor, guide, and shopkeeper from the original. Dave now has a time machine that takes gamers to places such as the Wild West, Ancient Egypt and even to the pirate-zombie laden Caribbean to defeat attacks with undead slaying plants.

While the first Plants vs. Zombies required a one-time fee for purchase, the second incarnation will be downloadable for free with additional content, upgrades and in-game items available to purchase through microtransactions.

Plants vs. Zombie 2 has been designed to be an ever expanding universe for the player. While the game has been referenced as made for live play, it does not mean the player must be constantly connected to an Internet source. However, players must be connected to continue to get new content as it is released. Pop Cap plans to continue to release new content and unlockable levels in the months after the game’s release.

For the time being, Android users are out of luck game for Plants vs. Zombies 2. It will be exclusively released for iOS devices.

Pop Cap’s planned release date of July 18 hits in the middle of the summer holidays, allowing for kids and vacationing adults to fall back in love with Plants vs. Zombies during their downtime. With brightly colored new levels, hilarious new zombies and interesting new unlockable plants, Plants Vs. Zombies 2: It’s About Time looks to be a hit this summer on portable iOS devices.

In app purchases and no PC or android version. Epic fail.

Unless Apple payed for a deal, it shouldn’t take to long to come to Android.
