Peter Molyneux and his development team 22cans are seeking funding for the new project Godus on Kickstarter.
The Kickstarter campaign is seeking £450,000. Thus far, the Kickstarter has gained £380,712 in pledges. The campaign comes to a close Dec. 21.
Godus is a return of sorts for Molyneux. It is a reinvention of Populous, the original god game. Players take on the role of a god, who must spread his influence throughout the world. Gods are only as powerful as their following. Godus is being developed for Mac, PC, iOS and Android devices.
Godus is an innovative mix of a sandbox and strategy game. Decisions can be made by the players to live in peace and grow their civilization or defeat other gods by creating natural disasters and causing chaos. The game delivers global co-op, competition, creation and destruction with solo play, multiplayer, cross-platform gameplay, sandbox enivornment, strategic battles, living populations, and the power to create, change, and destroy the structure of the world.
Molyneux is somewhat of a god himself due to his work in the gaming industry. He is famous for his work on the Fable series. The social multiplayer game Curiosity – What’s Inside the Box? released last month. It is his first project with 22cans.
22cans released a gameplay trailer in a last ditch effort to fund the Godus Kickstarter. The video can be viewed below.
