Payday 2 to Release This Summer
Payday 2 is set to release this summer for Xbox 360 via Xbox Live, PlayStation 3 through the PlayStation Network and PC, developer Overkill announced.
The sequel to the 2011 downloadable game Payday: The Heist will be available for Xbox 360. The first game was released on PS3 and PC but was not available on Xbox 360. Overkill has since been taken over by Swedish studio Starbreeze, allowing for a release on the Microsoft console.
Like the original, the 505 Games published Payday 2 will be a first-person shooter that encourages co-op play between four players. However, the sequel will be packed with new features to deliver a more polished gaming experience.
While Payday: The Heist featured seven different heists, Payday 2 will have a contract database called CRIMENET. The crime database will serve as a way for players to choose from available jobs offered by different contractors. As players progress, new contracts with new jobs will become available to play.
Jobs in Payday 2 can take place across several stages and change with the equipment purchased by the player. Levels include dynamic content, meaning they will have random layouts and events. This ensures players who keep coming back for more will never get the same experience twice.
Overkill hopes to deliver a much more polished experience with Payday 2 when it releases this summer.
