Nyko unveiled its new line of state-of-the-art accessories for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One at E3 2013. While the new gaming consoles are the center of attention at the convention, Nyko’s new accessories are almost cooler than the consoles themselves. According to Nyko Director of Marketing Chris Arbogast, the gaming accessories company is, “continuing in our tradition of embracing new platforms within the launch window.”

Nyko is possibly best known for its line of Charge Bases which allow for easy “drop and charge” technology for current controllers. The Charge Base will also be available for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4, but with some improvements.

The next generation model will be AC powered and feature dual controller ports. Two controllers can now be stored and rapidly charged simultaneously.  Xbox One’s controllers will be packaged with 2 rechargeable batteries. The PlayStation 4 Charge Base will have Nyko’s USB charging dongle system. The models will allow for easy drop and charge capabilities.

Nyko is focusing not just on redesigning their best-selling Charge Base line for the new consoles, but also bringing what Arbogast calls “new products for the second screen console experience.” Featuring heavily into this experience is Nyko’s new “Smart Clip.” The Smart Clip is designed to hold your smart phone onto your controller, allowing for a hands-free second screen experience that integrates with minimal extra effort. The Smart Clip will easily hold any iPhone, Android, Windows Phone or Blackberry device – provided it is under the 3.5 inch wide range.

This technology is a great addition with new games, such as The Crew from Ubisoft, that will offer a more in-depth experience using smartphone technology. The Smart Clip starts with the Xbox 360, but will quickly expand to the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 after their releases later this year.

Specifically for the Xbox One, Nyko will also be releasing a headset adapter that plugs into the HDSMI port of the new console. It will provide stereo RCS audio output that is compatible with most gaming headset that utilize RCA connectors for in-game audio.  It does not require additional batteries, a wall outlet or software to use the adapter.  The headset adapter will be available for the holiday season.

Nyko plans to release their Charge Bases and second screen console enhancement lines during the launch window for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 consoles – ensuring that players don’t miss a second of the action.
